A quick one for today to follow on from yesterdays post about living in your own artistic style. I came across this quote from Andy Warhol and thought it was pretty relevant. I'm stepping outside of my artistic comfort zone at the moment, doing a lot of mixed media work while getting ready for the upcoming Families On The Green fete (in 2 weeks!).
Andy Warhol started in Commercial Art and desperately wanted to be accepted by the high art world, who saw his work as 'not real art'. He paved the way to show the art world that real art is very subjective and what's considered low, or commercial art to some, is to others the highest art they could imagine.
If we wait to get approval from the whole art world (especially in this day and age of instant gratification through social media), we'll be waiting our whole lives. Art is too subjective for one opinion to have any higher standing than another.
So go out and create art that you love. And then create some more.
Have a great and creative day, where-ever you are in this great big world of ours.
