November 30th will be the first Families On The Green fete at our local primary school. I have booked a stall there to showcase my art and my handcrafted paper goods and I will also have a signup sheet for next years lessons!
I've been getting quite excited about it as it will be the first art stall that I've done. There's a little bit of nerves there as well, but the overriding emotion at the moment is excitement (and a little bit of exhaustion thrown in for luck!).
After the chaos of organising the Halloween Party and all the associated costumes and props I threw myself straight into preparing for the fete. I've been working on plenty of canvases, as well as preparing a stack of prints; matting some, wrapping them in cellophane for presentation and photographing them. I've also used the fete as the excuse to finish off some canvases that I've had sat there three quarters done. I've been experimenting a lot with mixed media; using vintage book pages and printed papers on canvas, then using watercolour, gouache, ink and pens and mediums in progressive layers. I'm truly loving playing with this kind of medium, and think I've found the direction I'll be taking my art in for the future. It's amazingly fun and so responsive! Each layer adds such a new dimension to the canvas.
So it's been busy busy busy here and I thought I'd share a couple of shots of two little mixed media canvases I've been working on.
Have a great day!
Gorgeous! I love the cherry blossoms. Good luck with your stall!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jessica! I love cherry blossoms as well - I have a real thing for Japanese Art and I think that's coming through a little in these ones.
