Featured Artist Series; David Munroe

This weeks' feature artist looks at some very abstract work by Scottish artist, David Munroe.

Equinox (Meteorology Series)
Mixed Media on Box Canvas 36 x 24 inches
£200.00

David's work utilises mixed media to keep his focus heavily on movement, fluidity and colour.  He explores our environment through different eyes and this is reflected in the vibrancy of his work. His Meteorology series looks at the colour and patterns created with infrared satellite images of extreme weather across the globe. The results are beautiful and intriguing. The blending of colour into itself is visually quite stunning, and the flow of paint and other mediums gives the work constant movement; it seems as if the paint may still be flowing across the canvas.

Vortex (Meteorology Series)
Mixed Media on Box Canvas 23 x 24 inches
£90.00

While his Liquid and Meteorology series look at patterns within our environment, his Industrial series looks at the effect of weather and nature on man made surfaces. This creates artworks with raw, textural beauty. Of his work, David has said he takes most of his inspiration from nature, and uses colour, texture and different elements to create work that is organic, fluid and beautiful. He is enjoying using heat and cold to alter the drying times and flow of the materials within his work and seeing the results this produces.
