This week I've finally gotten around to finishing my travel journal from our trip to the US last year! I had done the journalling part of it, but me being me, I wasn't going to be happy with it until it was thoroughly decorated and prettied up!
So while I am not yet finished (because I did 26 pages of writing for our 21 day trip), I have decorated 15 of those pages!
I really like the idea of journalling in general, but I think keeping a travel journal is something that everyone who travels should do in some form. It's just way too easy to forget the little details; places you ate at, random things you saw that made you smile, or those that made you say "what the!?".
Each time I've been overseas I've at least written down what happened each day - but last year was the first time I tried to do a dedicated journal. The problem with that was that we were so busy, that I barely had time to write in it. I found myself playing catch up with my writing and I remember writing about 9 days worth of happenings in one night.
I like to think next year when we travel again, that I'll be better at it, but despite my best organising efforts, I probably won't.
And so on the note of journalling, I will be making a concerted effort to blog at least once a week for the next 52 weeks! So that by the time I travel overseas next, I will in theory be way better at writing something (even if it's a little something!), every day!
So this is actually a two part challenge to myself. Part one involves the amount of blogging, and part two involves the subject matter.
I will AIM for a post every day/second day, but I will COMMIT to a post at least once a week. This is because I know from experience that life happens to the best of us (and aren't we glad it does!), and a commitment to blogging every day without any give in it, is only going to end up being a broken commitment. But to commit to a minimum and allow for extras, should mean I end up succeeding!
The second part of my personal challenge is the subject matter of my posts. I have a list (following the photos in this post), and I will blog about whatever is next on my list! My list of 52 blog post titles include things that will be a challenge but that's what it's all about!
Now for the photos of my travel journal so far:

Exactly! Being too busy to write it down is a good travel problem though!
